Gossip releases tomorrow then this news page goes dark for 2 weeks

First thing’s first, this is the last post here for nearly two weeks. If you need to stay up to date follow our Instagram page (@zegema_beach) for the updates as I won’t have access to my computer here in Canada. Therefore all of the drops on bandcamp and this store will be set on a timer (except Gossip, I’m here for that) so I apologize in advance if it gets screwy but I’ll do my best to have them all release at the proper times. As always 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST for all ZBR and Tomb Tree releases unless otherwise stated.

Gossip’s long awaited debut EP ‘Coals of Juniper’ releases tomorrow both digitally and on 10” /250. The 1st run had a defect and was remade so these land in time for ZBR Fest but not in time for tomorrow’s drop so we have no promo pics to show. I can, however, tell you that 125 are on black/white 3-color stripe with purple splatter and the other 125 are on a color-in-color bone/purple. Should look really sick, but I expect the splatter version to be the one to gun for first if you want’em lookin’ extra slick. They’re playing this year’s fest and fuckin’ ruled the pre-show last year. For fans of Mahria, Old Soul, Nuvolascura, Blind Girls, Crowning, etc.

Usurp Synapse is here and ready to fuck you up. Here are some promo pics for the regular versions of the ‘AssIIAss’ edition tape, as there will be an early-bird version available May 2nd via the Brooklyn Vegan premiere of the full EP. You can also jam a brand new song below in the Operation X-Ray show! Full release May 3rd.

Colacon 12”LP pre-orders go down on April 30th at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST for ‘Throes of Indignation’ on Tomb Tree. Only 100 copies available and the band will have some special goodies available along with Vamanos Tapes at the ZBR Fest pre-show alongside Usurp Synapse on Friday May 3rd! Tickets here!!!

Okay, last post, last time travel for a bit, this one just a year back to 2023 when we saw the fest go from “woah” to “holy shit” in terms of both bands and attendance. CanaDave “learned” how to play guitar and started Mourn Recif on Vancouver Island with some friends. They played their first show last night. Here’s the longer, slower jam. More shows coming in late May.

As mentioned last post, we got that sweet sweet…wait…we got that dark’n’dirty Usurp Synapse EP comin’. It’s called ‘Polite Grotesqueries - AssIIAss edition’ and it features seven new jams that the band recorded back in January of 2024. We’ll have a streaming premiere on May 2nd along with a single rare variant before doing the full release on May 3rd at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST and then if you make it to the ZBR Fest pre-show you can catch them play the entire thing live! And also buy more tapes, cuz this is a super limited run of 128 with alternate art that will not be made again.

Niboowin new album ‘Giving In’ releases May 9th on ZBR but we got those 12”s in already so the band will be slingin’ them at their shows as well as (obviously) at ZBR Fest (cuz they’re playing). Insanely long in the making, this was nearly a cursed record but we got that thing lifted cuz it would have been a travesty for these incredible songs to have not seen the light of day. In Her Head’s new release ‘Doves EP’ just dropped on Tomb Tree. Three tracks of breakdown-heavy sassy metalcore in the vein of SeeYouSpaceCowboy and ‘Frailty of Words’-era Hopesfall. These tapes literally just came in so the cases aren’t finished yet but will be good to go by Monday. We’ll start shipping them sometime next week, only 29 copies in total: 20 swirled, 5 blue, and 4 test dips w/matching swirl case.

Speaking of Tomb Tree, they’ll have the Colacon pre-orders for the band’s debut 12” on Monday at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST!!! More info to come over the weekend.

2022’s ZBR Fest was a return to form as we moved that sucker outta Canada and into Chicago where US Dave resides. It kicked off in epic fashion and was the first of many to come in Illinois, as that is ZBR Fest’s true home. This first Chicago-based fest was called ZBR Fest Mid-West and you can check out all the links and videos on the OMSB post by clicking on this text. Full recap video below!

CanaDave continues to reminisce about ZBR Fest, this time it’s the very first fest we did, and we did it back in Toronto in 2017 over three days. Pre-show day, poorly attended (cuz we were contending with Daughters) but it was sick. Day 1, exceeded all expectations and was awesome. Day 2, repeat. One of the most gratifying and incredible experiences/surprises of my lifetime. Second, Hiding In The Outpost is back! We’ve been so busy with other stuff that I just didn’t have time for it…well now I’m makin’ time! ZBR Fest 2024 is right around the corder (May 3rd-5th, to be exact) so it’s high time for me to start reminiscing about the other fests that we’ve put on over the last decade. It started in 2014 with this Hamilton-based and poorly attended mini-fest. It featured the likes of Respire, Edhochuli, Old Soul, Black Love, Terry Green, and more!
