ZBR applies some break action

Hey y’all, some sad news first. With the North American economy neck-chop and subsequent monetary turmoil, our sales slowdown will result in less releases over the next few months. We used to do a release every two weeks and alternate between ZBR and Tomb Tree, thus ensuring new music every week. For the next bit I think it’ll be more like one ZBR and one Tomb Tree release a month, so we’ll likely only have one to three releases each month unless sales pick back up again. For the first five years of ZBR I had to pump personal pay into the label to fund it, but since Cullen joined in 2018 it’s become self-sufficient, allowing us to keep releases coming out almost weekly. With everyone hurting and sales plummeting, I can’t pump personal money back into this as my family is also struggling to make ends meet in this hellhole of timeline. So it is what it is.

If sales stay the course, I’ll probably have to open CanaDave’s SkramzCave once more with new items to fund the stuff we’ve already committed to, but that will be the last one. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that but I’ll keep y’all informed. Speaking of, please join our email list so you can keep up to date in 2026 when we start getting off social media (facebook is first, fuck that place).

Our duplication company we use is usually pretty decent, but their handling of our Sans Visage tapes was a bit lacking in proper communication, so we had to push back the release of ‘drowned/resistance’ until Wednesday December 17th at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST. You can check out “resent” which premiered on Operation X-Ray this past Friday.

Oh damn we got the new Vibora album last week and it is fucking amazing. That’s the cover above for the upcoming ‘Egin Ez Dugun Guztia’ 12”LP, which releases February 20th, 2026 and houses 10 brand new jams. We still got a few of their previous ‘Zaldi Beltza’ 12”LP left (first run all sold out save one!, a couple of second runs also in stock) so pick that up and prep for a new jam very soon!

Magana released her ‘Bad News’ Ep earlier this year, so to wrap up 2025 Softseed will be releasing it alongside her debut EP ‘Golden Tongue’, so be on the lookout for that soon! Until then please enjoy ‘Teeth’ which Softseed recently released on 12” lathe. Gorgeous stuff.

It’s of the ‘random color’ variety, but as it’s in my hand I can see it’s a half white/half black copy that matches the art beautifully. 2025 - 11 - 01 /// Nuvolascura triple packs, Fainting Dreams released, Inosuke on Monday!

First and most importantly, shipping updates. Okay so the US store has sent out every Usurp order to my knowledge, while the Canada store has only done cds as the box containing our Usurp 2x12”s arrives in a week or so. The Canada store has sent off all of the other older release shipments like Shesmadefromsuede, Coup D’etat cds, etc., while the US store’s box with those arrives next week at which point they’ll be shipped out. All of the Nuvolscura orders should be shipped by mid-November. Bandcamp orders in the US are the last orders to go out and we haven’t forgotten about you, thank you for your patience.

The new Fainting Dreams album ‘You Can Be Anything’ premiered on Idioteq.com on the 30th of October, with the full release coming yesterday. There are 40 tapes over three variants, a swirl, a blue, and some test dips. The six songs are gorgeous, expansive, layered, all-encompassing pieces not unlike Ethel Cain and Lingua Ignota. There are six tracks on this behemoth that exists somewhere between the overlap of screamo, post-hardcore, sludge, and heavy metal. Features Jason from Locktender/Men As Trees and Erik from Stormlight/Lord Snow! Okay, I’m pretty sure this is the final ZBR Fest video, and it’s for Rosemary Nods Upon The Grave who were excellent and to boot, super fucking enthusiastic about the entire thing. Love’em. 2025 - 10 - 28 /// Coup D’état out + Nuvo cds tomorrow + Inosuke premiere!

Coup D’état released their sophomore album (a four-song EP, to be exact) yesterday via 100 cds in four-panel digipaks. The bandcamp orders and Canada/International store orders have already gone out, with the US store copies going out early November (cuz I have to ship them to the US store today). This shows the band getting simultaneously poppier and heavier (depending on the song), with a more varied musical palette and increased cohesiveness. So good!

Right before Nuvolascura goes on tour in Asia, we made another 100 cds of each of their full lengths! That’s right! 100 ‘Nuvolascura’ cds in a four-panel digipak, 100 ‘As We Suffer From Memory and Imagination’ in a four-panel digipak, and 100 ‘How This All Ends’ in a jewel case (1st run was in a dvd case, so these are different). These all go on sale tomorrow at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST.

The first single from the next Inosuke album was premiered by Not Just A Phase yesterday. ‘Allomancer’ releases November 3rd on 12”LP and features Jason from Locktender and Erik from Stormlight! Coup D’état’s release show for their self-titled cd happened this past Friday in Victoria with support from A Recorded Dawn and Mourn Recif. Respire is a six-piece band from Toronto, Canada, who combine epic post-hardcore, screamo, and black metal into a very cohesive formula that drips of maturity and patience. Gravity and Grace is their debut LP - a sprawling memoir of genre-defying soundscapes, reverb-washed tremolo harmonies, cascading arpeggios, dreamlike textures and walls of distorted guitars roaring over frantic rhythms, punctuated by tormented vocals and a near-orchestral array of instruments and contributors. Themes of loss, addiction, heartbreak, and existential anguish paint a bleak picture, but somewhere over the horizon rests a glimmering sense of hope, resolve and forgiveness.

This is a co-release between Zegema Beach Records (Canada), Ozona Records (USA), Dingleberry Records (Germany) and Narshardaa Records (Germany).

Mississippi’s Shesmadefromsuede released their first and last album on Tomb Tree and it’s a fucking banger. 5 tracks of screamo/metallic hardcore bliss for fans of Mondrary, Blind Girls, and Grimlitter. Tapes /78 but we sold about half the first day!

Friday is the cd release show for the new Coup D’etat EP where we’ll have copies in hand as well as the ZBR distro. This is also the A Record Dawn/Mourn Recif cd release! So much yummy.

Adobe Homes releases their new 12”LP ‘Años’ November 10th via Zegema Beach and Dog Knights. We did 300 copies with an extra surprise in the packaging, stay tuned for more info, but you can jam a song from the album below!

This Noise Is Ours reviewed the new Nuvolascura album ‘How This All Ends’, which we’ve got like 7 copies left of the OG cd press, as the new/upcoming press are in regular jewel cases so this is the last of the DVD-style case. A heads up to all that ordered the Usurp Synapse 2 x 12” and/or cd, here’s the current update:
- 90% of the US store orders have gone out for the 2 x 12”
- bandcamp and Canada/International orders for the 2 x 12” won’t be going out until I get the box from the US, which should be here by the end of Oct, with all copies being out during the first week of November
- no US cd orders have gone out as the cds arrive in the US tomorrow
- all non-US cd orders have gone out!

Thanks for your patience on this, there are literally hundreds of orders and lots of moving parts (including family illness), but we should meet the deadline as we said during the pre-order that they’d ship early/mid-November. Please pick up a copy if you haven’t already! If we do a 2nd run they won’t be with the crazy laser-cut jackets so pick up this version while you can, or pay the dreaded reseller price!

2025 - 09 - 29 /// Demersal out, Lucidity x Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow next!

Canada Post strike again? You betcha. Definitely warranted as the Canadian government ordered them back illegally to work during the previous strike. Fuck you Mark Carney get your head out of your ass and fix this problem. Large orders will still be shipped out, and US orders from the Canada store and Bandcamp store will likely be shipped out too (but sometimes delayed as I need to send a big box to the US store so other Dave can ship them out directly). So yeah, apologies on that but my hands are tied unless you get in contact with me about your order and pay the express shipping through FedEx (which is really expensive for small orders). I expect the strike to finish in October, but it could be as late as November when things are fixed, as I don’t expect the government to last into the month of christmas cuz then so many people would be getting fucked. Remember, Canada Post can be profitable (or at least funded) if the government stops giving corporations INSANE tax breaks, and instead uses the revenue from those non-existent taxes to fund the post office. If you hear people talking shit about the strike, remind them that the government is supposed to work FOR the people, not against them. Stand with unions.

Demersal’s new 12”EP ‘Vi kunne ikke blive her for evigt, vel?’ is out! These five tracks are fantastic and show the band getting both heavier and softer at the same time. 12”s should arrive late October and we’ve only got 30 copies!

The next Zegema Beach Records release is the Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow x Lucidity split 7”. These two new jams from each band come on green 7”s and are limited to 100 copies. Both bands most recent 12”LPs are running low, I think there’s like 3 OFIAAS and maybe 10 Lucidity. You can jam one of the Lucidity jams below. More info and promo pics this week as it releases in full on Friday October 3rd at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST.

Usurp tour starts next Monday and I’ll be at the Vancouver show with ‘Disinformation Fix’ tour cds and distro. Please come say hi! The digital release comes out on October 13th alongside the /200 cds in 4-panel digipaks. The records are pretty much done and should be in hand mid October, so hopefully we’ll have some official promo pics by then and we can start shipping out these pre-orders earlier than anticipated.

We’ve got a handful of restocks for Nuvolascura’s ‘How This All Ends’, including about 10 cds and a few swirl 12”s. Under Floripa just reviewed it so check it out and clear us out of these last few copies please, having Nuvolascura in stock weirds me out cuz they’re way too good for us to be holding products. (((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain))))) blog premiered a new Oshera track from their Oct 6th split with fellow Austinians Tamsen. The song is a great mixture of new and old screamo that I think most skramz fans will love. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the premiere. Sine Nomine has reformed and has a new EP coming out on November 28th! Tomb Tree will be making tapes for this one, with the band and their new label taking care of the vinyl copies.
