2026 - 5 - 21 /// Emma Goldman repress + Letterstoyou tapes!

May 21, 2026 by David Norman

Emma Goldman’s breakout debut full length ‘all you are is we’ is back on 12”, this time on cornetto (transparent yellow w/red spokes) out of 200. The band has 50 for their upcoming Euro tour as well as another 50 for local shows, and we’ve got the other 100. In the top 10 ZBR releases ever, hands down.

Letterstoyou has their first three releases compiled onto one insane cassette titled ‘a shoebox of letterstoyou’ on May 25th but I’m putting up the leftover ZBR Fest 2026 variant tomorrow (that’s Friday May 22nd!) at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST. There will be about 10 for sale in the US store and the Canada/International store.

Sungaze’s ‘I’m No Longer Afraid of Heights’ releases in full on Friday! To help pass the time until the dreamy shoegaze drops, you can check out the interview with Ivory and Ian on the Ifitbeyourwill podcast. Scope that above and check out the pre-order and singles below!

Click here for the full list!

Orphan Donor’s ‘Ailments’ made Monuments In Ruin’s most recent round-up. Definitely check it out, as it’s truly an experience - both exciting and haunting. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the full article. Jam/buy cds below.

Today’s Last Fucking Copy goes to Respire ‘Gravity and Grace’ 12”LP first pressing on black /100 (aka the rarest of the vinyl variants from this release!). When I was variant collecting for my label I had up to six different variants of this release, and that’s just fucking stupid when you release 500+ things, so someone gets a time machine to 2014-2015 when we dropped this fucking masterpiece. Snag it now (below) or forever hold your peace.

Operation X-Ray continues to play banger after banger, and last week Soastasphrenas, Orphan Donor, and I.O. were played. There will be another new episode tonight on Tuff City Radio!

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: MAGE TEARS = I can’t get enough of Nicole’s amazing voice. I loved this project a lot but after seeing her at ZBR Fest I am jamming this shit daily. Can’t wait for the new record!

2026 - 3 - 16 /// Soastasphrenas now, Othiel on Wed., Dagerman on Fri.

March 16, 2026 by David Norman

Soastasphrenas released ‘Eris’ on Friday. You want a mentally trying, jarring, chaotic, blast to the earholes? Well hot damn this is your release. Part emo-violence, part mathcore, part noise rock, part electronic/ambient, these 9 songs will reconfigure your brain in the best possible way. Oh and those vinyl options are sick as fuck. Vinyl should be in hand in April.

Concealer 12” pre-orders for ‘This Room Could Be Heaven’ sold out in less than an hour, with the other half dropping alongside the full digital release on March 31st at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST. Be there or definitely miss out on the first pressing of this soon-to-be masterpiece!

The sophomore Dagerman 12”LP ‘Di fronte a noi il nulla’ releases this Friday. You can jam two of the tracks by visiting the band’s bandcamp (linked to this text) and I’ve stuffed the finished LP promo pic below.

We picked up 8 copies of Othiel’s new 12” ‘World’s Fastest Car’ that we’ll on Wednesday March 18th at 9am PST / 11am CST /12pm EST. 4 in the US store, 2 in the Canada/International store, and 2 on bandcamp.

When Spain’s Crossed asks if they can play your fest, that’s a hard yes or you straight up don’t know what the hell you’re doing. Luckily I know what I’m doing so having this behemoth of a quartet back was a no-fucking brainer. Watch them demolish our 2024 fest above and jam/buy their new 12”LP before we sell out (the first two full lengths sold out, and this one will too) and then catch them at ZBR Fest 2026 in Vancouver!!! And that, my friends, is Today’s ZBR Fest 2026 Profile Feature.

Wollruss is playing another show, this time in Vancouver at Red Gate with some local homies. This is our last show before the ZBR Fest pre-show (tickets linked to this text). I saw Filigree Silver God just over a year ago and they were awesome, I can’t even imagine how good they must be now!

Goddamn those early ZBR releases have started flyinjg out the door, as I think in the last two months we’ve sold our last copy of about 8 releases, with the next likely being Foxmoulder! The essential Toronto band’s 7”EP ‘Lethe’ is today’s Last Fucking Copy. Em (vocals) was instrumental (ha) in getting CanaDave into the Toronto scene back in 2013-2014, and the rest of the members went on to form Respire! This shall not be repressed. Snag it below or forever hold your peace.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: FIGURE EIGHT = The guitarist of this band saw my Brahm tape and was like “hey, homies”. Then his band played and I was blown away. That vocalist sings beautifully but live it looks absolutely effortless. “hummingbird” is my pick. Can’t wait to hear what’s next!!!

2025 - 10 - 28 /// Coup D’état out + Nuvo cds tomorrow + Inosuke premiere!

October 28, 2025 by David Norman

Coup D’état released their sophomore album (a four-song EP, to be exact) yesterday via 100 cds in four-panel digipaks. The bandcamp orders and Canada/International store orders have already gone out, with the US store copies going out early November (cuz I have to ship them to the US store today). This shows the band getting simultaneously poppier and heavier (depending on the song), with a more varied musical palette and increased cohesiveness. So good!

Right before Nuvolascura goes on tour in Asia, we made another 100 cds of each of their full lengths! That’s right! 100 ‘Nuvolascura’ cds in a four-panel digipak, 100 ‘As We Suffer From Memory and Imagination’ in a four-panel digipak, and 100 ‘How This All Ends’ in a jewel case (1st run was in a dvd case, so these are different). These all go on sale tomorrow at 9am PST / 11am CST / 12pm EST.

Full premiere post linked here!

The first single from the next Inosuke album was premiered by Not Just A Phase yesterday. ‘Allomancer’ releases November 3rd on 12”LP and features Jason from Locktender and Erik from Stormlight! We still got some sweet vinyl of their debut album ‘rage/ruin’ embedded below. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the premiere for “a thousand years of ash and mist”.

Coup D’état’s release show for their self-titled cd happened this past Friday in Victoria with support from A Recorded Dawn and Mourn Recif. You can watch the 3-minute recap above, listen to the supporters split below, and/or click on this text to go to the full OMSB post with five total videos, including four currently unreleased songs!

Click here for the full premiere including links

Elle from Athousandangelsandseven fronts Fainting Dreams who had their final song premiere go up on the (((((OPENmind/SATURATEDbrain))))) blog, and it’s a gorgeous few minutes with additional help from Midwife and Allison Lorenzen. The tapes release October 31st on Softseed Music with an early full stream going down on October 30th via Idioteq.com! Go to the premiere by clicking on the pic above or this text.

Operation X-Ray followed up their CanaDave episode with another great smattering of tracks, including our very own Shesmadefromsuede and Adobe Homes. We’re already low on the former so pick one up before they’re gone forever.

Respire played one of the best sets I’ve ever seen them play at the most recent ZBR Fest. Here’s the official fest video above with the final copy of the third press of ‘Gravity and Grace’ embedded below.

RESPIRE - Gravity and Grace (12”LP)

ZBR062
For fans of: Old Soul, Alaskan, Godspeed You! Black Emperoror, Neil On Impression and Fall Of Efrafa

Respire is a six-piece band from Toronto, Canada, who combine epic post-hardcore, screamo, and black metal into a very cohesive formula that drips of maturity and patience. Gravity and Grace is their debut LP - a sprawling memoir of genre-defying soundscapes, reverb-washed tremolo harmonies, cascading arpeggios, dreamlike textures and walls of distorted guitars roaring over frantic rhythms, punctuated by tormented vocals and a near-orchestral array of instruments and contributors. Themes of loss, addiction, heartbreak, and existential anguish paint a bleak picture, but somewhere over the horizon rests a glimmering sense of hope, resolve and forgiveness.

This is a co-release between Zegema Beach Records (Canada), Ozona Records (USA), Dingleberry Records (Germany) and Narshardaa Records (Germany).

1st press:
12" vinyl on black (/100) and white (/200)

2nd press:
12” vinyl on clear (/200)

3rd press:
12” vinyl on half white/half black with a poster insert. 9 songs.

Today’s Last Fucking Copy goes to Bloom Dream’s ‘It Didn’t Have To Be This Way’ which we have had serious trouble keeping in stock (did two tapes run and a cd run), leaving only a test dip left. This is extra surprising as those usually go first. Snag or forever hold your peace! It’s on our bandcamp page embedded below.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: MIRA CORPORA = The first song from this band who’s been brewing for nearly 5 years just dropped their first single and it is fucking fire. Ex-Crowning, ex-Excrucis, with members of Valatie.

The Återstod / Meißel split cassette releases on Monday on a mere 75 tapes, only 40 of which because CanaDave doesn’t understand math. This is gonna sell out pretty quickly I reckon. Amazing stuff from Sweden (Återstod is Henning from Suis La Lune) and Germany. Jam a song from each band below on the new Zampler. Variants pictured above.

Click here for the premiere post!

Braininavat is the next Tomb Tree release on February 7th, but you can jam the wicked first single premiere from their debut/self-titled EP! Simultaneously chaotic and groovy, the band features members of CityCop, Lowmeninyellowcoats, Griphook, etc. and is for fans of Bravo Fucking Bravo, Daniel Striped Tiger, and Llewelyn. Click on this text or the pic above for the full premiere post.

Operation X-Ray busted out their best Noise Rock & Post Punk episode and that sonuvagun featured our very own Lower Automation and their latest EP ‘Welcome to My Deathbed’ which we still have some cassette copies of!

Click here for the full review!

This Noise Is Ours featured the new Keratin 7” ‘Death & Rebirth’ in their ZBR Roster Review series. These 50 copies are going pretty quickly (this store sold 80% of their copies in 48 hours) so if epic, noodly screamo is your game you better jump on that shit. Click on the pic above or this text for the review. Jam/buy below.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: THEOPHONOS = This new EP is a reworking of old material and it’s fucking amazing.

2024 - 10 - 09 /// Smush is in + Crowning to Japan!

October 09, 2024 by David Norman

Smush has arrived! Holy moly was that outside of the plant’s guaranteed time. Inserts are printed and the records look/sound great. Softseed Music made 150 of’em and they’re already more than half gone. U.S. store gets their copies when U.S. Dave returns from his Japanese tour with Crowning/Oaktails, and should all be shipped by the end of October. I’d probably keep an eye on their bandcamp btw!

Crowning cds are in stock in both stores + bandcamp. They are literally flying to Japan right now to join Oaktails for the tour. As stated, keep an eye on those bandcamps!

Members of Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow, Mourn Recif, and Hillsboro have a new group called Wollruss. Their first show is October 19th, 2024 at Oaklands with A Recorded Dawn, Shoplifter, and I.O.

Click on this pic for the full list!

Moshpit Nation unveiled their best of 2024 thus far and it’s littered with ZBR and Tomb Tree releases. Othiel, Our Future Is An Absolute Shadow, Edhochuli, and Demersal among other incredible albums (and EP). Click on the picture above or this text to go to the full list complete with review.

Click here for the full list!

Machine Music three-quarters of the way through 2024 top 100+ includes Eyelet at #76. “One of the best and most memorable screamo-esque releases thus far this decade”. Amen! 3rd press is embedded below via bandcamp or either store. Click on this text or the pic above to go to the massive list!

Click here for a more in-depth post with band links, etc.

Rohan from Respire, Votive, Foxmoulder, Dela Trudo, and New Friends popped over for a quick podcast chat! Click on this text or the pic above to go to the full post, or just listen to us ramble below.

Click here for the full review!

This Noise Is Ours covered Drei Affen’s most recent 12”LP ‘Seguimos Cigxs’. This sucker is long sold out but I’ve got an unclaimed rare painted version below. Once this is gone we’re like “out” out. Click on the pic above or this text to go to the review. Buy that lone copy and/or jam below.

Buy here before it's gone!!!

Of Death was on the podcast Not Just A Phase podcast that you can check out by clicking on this text. We released their 2x12” discography…two years ago? Yeah, about that. The shriekiest of birds.

Johnny’s Reco-mmendations: VENUS TWINS = Softseed and ZBR still has some RAXIS 12”s in stock, and those beautiful twins were recently signed to ThreeOneG, appeared on Mr. Beast and placed 4th/100 twins, aaaaaand released a new music video from an upcoming EP!!!
